Rubio Says FBI Raid will Serve as Justification to Persecute Trump Supporters

Republicans and conservatives continue speaking against the FBI's Monday raid on Mar-a-Lago. The Floridian has catalogued plenty of these, as well as some from prominent DemocratsSen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)recently appeared on Fox News' Hannity adding more to the conversation.

The most prominent point Rubio makes about the raid is the reaction to it. Rubio warns that the left and Democrats will begin to say "oh, these Trump supporters, these Republicans, they're very upset. They're saying very angry things, we think they might be a threat. We think they're radical extremists. Let's start arresting them." Additionally, Rubio states that, as representing an area full of Latin Americans, the raid is a familiar concept to them, but shocking to Americans. "People don't understand, this is the playbook from all over the world. The far left believes that their cause is so worthy that anyone who is against it must be evil, must be a criminal, and must be punished and put away."

Hannity compares the raid's pretense of retrieving classified information to the infamous Steele dossier from 2016 alleging to collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign. Rubio agrees on the flimsiness of the FBI's justification of retrieving documents. "They found some Obama donor judge to write; not even a judge, a magistrate, to write and give them the search warrant. I think they went in there looking to see whatever they could find." Similarly, Hannity adds that he is holding a document from February indicating that Trump and Mar-a-Lago staff were cooperative with the National Archives Record Administration. Thus, Rubio indicates that "they can't say they're doing it because of January 6, so they thought this was a good way to get around it."

Rubio then tweeted the clip Wednesday morning with additional commentary:

As predicted the far left & their media mouthpieces are laying the groundwork to criminalize opposition by arguing that anyone outraged by the FBI raid is “dangerous” & “fomenting violence,"" the complete tweet says.
