Rep. Donalds Commemorates 13 Fallen Service Members in Afghanistan Withdrawal; Reaffirms Call for Biden to Resign

Friday, Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) sent out a press release regarding the one-year anniversary of the 13 service members who died in Kabul during the attempted evacuation of the U.S. military from Afghanistan. The attempted withdrawal was supposed to bring the United States out of the area peacefully for the first time since 9/11 but ended in tragedy when radical Islamic extremist groups descended upon the area.

On August 15^th, CBS News reported that the Taliban were seen marching in the streets of Kabul to celebrate the 1-year anniversary of the end of American occupation in Afghanistan. The nation is still classified as a humanitarian crisis according to the U.N., and has stripped citizens of basic various human rights, especially women’s rights.

“Today, we pause to remember the lives of the 13 brave & selfless service members who tragically lost their lives at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan. Despite the monumental task ahead, these heroes looked danger in the eye & answered the call of duty. Their deaths fall directly at the feet of President Biden, who chose to build a legacy over enacting the appropriate plan to withdraw from the region” said the Florida Congressman.

Donalds later reaffirmed his call for President Joe Biden (D) resign and called Biden’s behavior upon receiving the news “unbecoming of a human being” and more.

"This rogue decision led to destabilization in the Middle East, hundreds of deaths, and a weakened presence on the world stage. These events led to my immediate call for President Biden to resign in disgrace, a call that was unfortunately unanswered. To make matters worse, Biden had the gall to check his watch multiple times when receiving these fallen warriors an act unbecoming of a human being—let alone the Commander-in-Chief. May we keep their families and loved ones close to our hearts during this difficult time."
