Mast Points Out Biden's Failure to Mention Afghanistan Withdrawal

Share

The United States of America is still feeling the repercussions of the military’s failed withdrawal from Afghanistan after 2 decades of combat in the region. 13 U.S. soldiers were killed as the attempted evacuation ended in bloodshed caused by radical Islamic extremists who attacked the Kabul airport. Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL), a combat veteran who served in Afghanistan and is now serving Florida’s 18th District, pointed out that President Joe Biden (D) failed to acknowledge the event and commemorate the servicemen and servicewomen who lost their lives on the tragic day. The War on Terror in Afghanistan did not end peacefully.

Mast stated in a tweet that the President has demonstrated a “pattern of disrespect towards troops” who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

“Yesterday, Joe Biden didn’t make a single mention of the 1-year anniversary of the fall of Kabul or the tragedy that followed in Afghanistan. His silence speaks volumes - it’s a pattern of disrespect towards troops who put their lives on the line for our country.”

Mast also sent out a message to his compatriots that fought in Afghanistan as well:

A message to my fellow Afghanistan veterans: I know from speaking with many of you that this disaster still weighs heavy on your shoulders. From interpreters left behind to the resurgence of al Qaeda in the country, it’s a lot to carry. Please remember that this war was not lost by you in the mountains of Kunar, it was surrendered by Joe Biden from the safety of his fortified office on Pennsylvania Avenue.”

CBS News has reported that on August 15th, the Taliban were seen marching in the streets of Kabul to celebrate the 1-year anniversary of the end of American occupation in Afghanistan. The nation is still classified as a humanitarian crisis according to the U.N., and has stripped citizens of basic various human rights, especially women’s rights.

Conservative commentators such as Ben Shapiro from The Daily Wire have pointed out the fact that media outlets such as NPR and the New York Times has failed to connect the Biden administration to the botched withdrawal attempt.

“On the anniversary of the surrender of Afghanistan to the Taliban for no reason other than Joe Biden's insipid vanity -- the media are now covering the fallout. Without mentioning Joe Biden AT ALL. The word Biden appears zero times in this story.”

The CBS News report mentioned above included Biden’s name only once; appearing to be in congruence with the other outlets mentioned by Shapiro.
