Fried Warns That 'Every Vote Counts' in Primary Election

Share

With the 2020 primary election here, the gubernatorial hopefuls are making their final cases in raising support for their campaigns. In recent weeks, Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried (D) and Florida Rep. Charlie Crist (D) have released polls indicating that one is polling over the other.

As Crist and Fried continue to host rallies and criticize Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), one thing is for sure, “every vote counts” as Fried warns.

Taking to social media  over the weekend, Fried reminded Florida voters how important it is to get every vote in.

“I won Florida by 6,753 votes. So when I say every vote counts, I mean it,” said Fried, calling on everyone to “vote.”

In the 2018 midterm election, Fried faced Republican Matt Caldwell, and after all the other races had been called, a recount ensued for the Agriculture Commissioner post, which saw Fried as the victor.

Leading up to the August 23rd primary, Fried has not received the support that Crist has, which spans lawmakers and organizations. However, Fried has maintained that her campaign can pull through with a victory on election night, but that victory, she says, hinges on making sure that “every vote counts.”

Though Crist has received scrutiny from the Fried campaign, he’s spending his final hours before the primary election chiding Governor DeSantis.

DeSantis himself and Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) among others will be speaking at the Keep Florida Free Tour event, and this has angered Democrats, who’ve called for Floridians to condemn the event.

On social media, Crist shared that “DeSantis is running around the country rallying for far right Trump-endorsed candidates that are STILL campaigning on the Big Lie. While DeSantis is stuck in the past, I’m ready to love Florida forward.”

Echoing in the words of Fried, Crist also expressed what voting means to his campaign, saying that “if we can defeat Trump, we can defeat DeSantis.”
