Florida Reps Attack Biden's Student Loan Forgiveness Plan

On Wednesday, the Biden administration announces that it will forgive $10,000 student loans to those who make less than $125,ooo a year. As swell as this sounds, this will cost taxpayers $300 billion, and the national debt is currently at $30.7 trillion. Needless to say, Republicans and conservatives have called out this latest directive from the White House.

Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL-03) says in a pair of tweets that "liberals need a new motto: one hare-brained scheme after the next." Additionally, she says that "it's as simple as paying back the loans you owe. Americans shouldn't be on the hook."

"The Liberals need a new motto: ‘one hare-brained scheme after the next.’ In Biden’s new student loan proposal released this morning, the administration plans to forgive $10,000 of student loan debt/American. (1/2)," the first tweet reads.

"This places the burden on the American taxpayers to pay back loans for schools they didn’t attend and educational choices they didn’t make. It’s ludicrous. It’s as simple as paying back the loans you owe. Americans shouldn’t be on the hook. (2/2)," says the second.

Similarly, Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL-06) calls the loan forgiveness "a slap in the face" to people who have paid their debts and taxpayers.

"A slap in the face to those who paid their debts and to the working class Americans who will foot this bill," stated Waltz.

Meanwhile, Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL-18) says the loan forgiveness initiative is entirely political in nature, saying it is "a shameful attempt to buy the votes of the liberal elite with taxpayer money."

"This is a shameful attempt to buy the votes of the liberal elite with taxpayer money. Why should a middle class family be forced to pay for a millionaire’s kids’ Ivy League education?" Mast asks in a tweet.

And as The Floridian covered earlier today, Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) intends to introduce the COLLEGE Act, which will force institutions to report financial endowments and "cost match" financial aid based on the endowment.
