Amidst criticism from Democrats for suspending Hillsborough County State Attorney Andrew Warren, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) is directing criticism back to both Democrats and the Biden administration. DeSantis has not responded to Democrat's concerns, arguing instead that under his leadership Florida has remained "America's Beachhead of Freedom."
Shortly after reports began to circulate, informing that the Florida Governor had suspended Hillsborough County State Attorney Andrew Warren. DeSantis reasoned that Warren had "put himself publicly above the law" for not prosecuting certain crimes.
In response, Democrats took to social media to share their disapproval of DeSantis' decision. One vocal critic, Florida Rep. Anna V. Eskamani (D), shared that "State Attorney Andrew Warren is the ONLY State Attorney in FL to sign a pledge saying he would NOT prosecute women who end their own pregnancies." Moreover, she expressed that the Governor "not only wants to ban abortion in FL but he wants to ARREST people who seek a self-managed abortion."
Opposition continues to mount, and while Democrats have maintained that Governor DeSantis has enacted authoritarian control over the state, DeSantis argues that he has done the opposite.
"Over the last three and a half years, I have fought for Floridians on every front and secured Florida's standing as America's beachhead of freedom," admitted DeSantis.
In a message to supporters, the Governor commented that he has fought against the Biden administration and Dr. Fauci in reference to vaccine mandates, admitting that "no Floridian should have to choose between a job they need and a jab they don't want."
"When Brandon and his lackeys tried to attack our employees and corporations, we called a special session of the legislature to pass protections for individuals," DeSantis said, adding that Florida is now "better for it, and our country is better off for what we did.
DeSantis' recently released 1 minute ad titled Dear Governor highlights Floridians that have directed letters to Governor DeSantis, thanking him for his work during the last three years.
