Biased Legacy Media Focus Group Paints Ron DeSantis as an Extremist

In anticipation of the Florida gubernatorial race, anti-DeSantis rhetoric has been revving up more heavily than ever.  Now, actual legacy media polls are attempting to show that Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is an extremist.

Legacy media outlet Axios conducted two focus groups of only 12 Floridians, only one of which was a Republican, the others were four independents and seven Democrats.  All 12 of the respondents allegedly voted for Trump in 2016 but were Biden voters in 2020.

Wait, are they telling us that they could only find 12 people in the entire state to participate in a focus group? I know, I know, its hard not to laugh, but this so-called focus group finding is being promoted by Florida Democrats as political scripture.

The respondents were reported as saying DeSantis is, "trying to be like, like the God of Florida instead of being the governor of Florida."  The respondents also characterized recent moves by the DeSantis Administration as, "power plays," to appeal to his base.

Axios also touted that none of the respondents wanted DeSantis as president, calling him, "more extreme," than Trump, but how accurate can this set of data be?

Remember, this "focus group" is made up of 7 Democrats.

Earlier this week, US Rep. Charlie Crist (D-FL) asserted that not only Ron DeSantis, but also his base of supporters are extremists, calling them, "far-right."  "DeSantis is only interested in appealing to his far-right base. My base is all Floridians," said Crist on Twitter.

The focus group is one of many recent attempts to cast the governor as an extremist.  Other figures, such as Commissioner of Agriculture Nikki Fried (D-FL), has previously used terms like, "authoritarian," to describe the works of the DeSantis administration.

According to a recent Florida statewide poll,  54% of Floridians support the current governor and only a 38% disapproval rating.  Vast amounts of Republicans (83%) support the governor and a surprising 21% of Democrats claimed to support DeSantis' job as governor so far.
