Inflation continues to affect everyday Americans. Floridians alone have spent $681 more just this past May because of it. Gas prices are at $3.88 per gallon on average, which is still high. Thankfully, Americans For Prosperity-Florida (AFP-FL) is launching a campaign to ease the burden of inflation. And more importantly, bring awareness to solutions on how to combat it.
Dubbed "The True Cost of Washington," the campaign's most notable goal is working with local gas stations to lower the price of gas to $2.38 per gallon. “We launched the ‘True Cost of Washington’ campaign to highlight the rising cost burden on consumers and businesses," states Deputy AFP-FL State Director Carrie Thompson-Patrick.
AFP points to business regulations and top-down government spending policies as the primary culprit of recent inflation. Consequently, inflation has reached a 40-year high, everyday products are more expensive, and the supply chain has slowed considerably. AFP-FL State Director Skylar Zander is quoted, “Floridians are suffering at the hands of an administration that doesn’t value their hard-earned money." Additionally, he says the True Cost of Washington campaign "sheds light on how our leaders have been letting us down and allows us to discuss the truth behind rising costs." Finally, this program is dedicated towards "proposing real solutions that make everyday life more affordable for Floridians and their businesses.”
The True Cost of Washington campaign favors a grassroots approach, receiving support through its experts engaging with Floridians to discuss economic prosperity problems. Moreover, AFP-FL actively demonstrates its commitment through its aiding gas stations to lower prices. “The recent events in Orlando and Tampa, where we lowered the price of gas, are part of a series of statewide events that take real action for Floridians and point to real policy solutions to the rising prices of everyday goods," Thompson-Patrick adds.
Florida campaign tour stops will include Tampa, Orlando, West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale/Miami, Fort Myers/Naples, and Ocala/Gainesville. More tour dates are featured on AFP's website here.
