Ron DeSantis: 'Do you want to be in Brandon's party?'

Hollywood, FL - At the Sunshine Summit, Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) was by far the most anticipated guest to take the stage.  Gov. DeSantis kicked off his speech by bashing Democrats and highlighting Republican gains in the state of Florida, asking, "Do you want to be in Brandon's party?"

After a warm welcome, DeSantis cut right to the chase and spoke about, "momentum we have in the state of Florida as Republicans."

"As many of you know when I got elected governor in 2018, this state had almost 300,000 more registered Democrats than Republicans. Today, and we never had in the history of our state, prior to me becoming governor, ever had more registered Republicans than Democrats.  Well, today we have 20,000 more Republicans," added DeSantis.

DeSantis also opposed Florida with other states who have become, "Faucian dystopias,"  and claimed that Florida is, "standing for people's rights with jobs, and education. and businesses and people responded, people moving here to be Republicans, but there are way more Democrats switching over to Republican than the other way around."

The governor also mentioned the importance of the 2022 midterms calling the opportunity, "historic," but also did not fail to mention, "the opportunity to win many, many school board seats."

DeSantis, as well as Republicans across Florida, have prioritized educational rights and have put a high emphasis on school board elections.  State Rep. Spencer Roach (R-76) has even referred to school board elections as the most important in the country.

Speaker Designate Paul Renner (R-24), reaffirmed the commitment to parents and sustaining quality education for Florida's students, naming the Parental Rights in Education bill as one of the key issues facing Florida today.
