Democrat Jared Moskowitz has surpassed the $1 million threshold for his congressional campaign in Florida's 23rd District
In the latest Federal Election Commission (FEC) reporting, Moskowitz posted having raised $1,106,029.90 since entering the race.
Moskowitz, who is considered the frontrunner in both his primary race and the general election, has $616,000 cash on hand and has loaned his campaign $250,000.
Former Fort Lauderdale City Commissioner Ben Sorensen, who recently won a Dolphin Democrat club straw poll, has not posted his filings yet, but that posting is expected to come in within the coming days.
Attorney Hava Holzhauer raised $169,475.88 of which $69,973.68 is available in the bank. Holzhauer has not loaned her campaign any money.
The two leading Republicans in the race, State Committeeman Joe Budd and Attorney Jim Pruden didn’t stack up the campaign cash as well as their Democratic counterparts.
Pruden, who won the nomination in 2020 and went on to lose in the general election against retiring Rep. Ted Deutch, has raised $224,133.76.
Pruden has loaned his campaign $167,656.26 and has $181,000 cash on hand. Pruden recently criticized Moskowitz for promoting the endorsement he received from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Budd, who just got in the race, posted a modest $103,786.
Budd loaned himself $49,500 and only has $20,048 available to spend.
Moskowitz’s $ 1 million raised appears to be insurmountable to the other candidates, but we will wait and see what Sorensen posts.
Absentee ballots are already in the wind and the primary election is on August 23.
