Man Arrested for Assaulting Mills for Congress Volunteer, Rearrested on Felony Burglary Assault Charge [VIDEO]

Last week, after a video surfaced of an individual, Samuel Benjamin, assaulting a Cory Mills for Congress campaign volunteer in Sanford, Florida, which led to his arrest, Police rearrested Benjamin on a felony Burglary with Assault or Battery charge.

Benjamin was first arrested on a simple battery charge, but that charge was upgraded to Battery With Assault or Battery charge, and he was rearrested just as he was waiting to retrieve his personal property after the first arrest.

Benjamin was not given a bond but then was released with a GPS ankle bracelet.

In the video, Benjamin can be seen striking his victim who was sitting in his car.

According to the police report, Benjamin admitted to police striking the victim.

The incident occurred after Benjamin was seen tearing down a Cory Mills for Congress campaign sign. The victim, who volunteers for the Mills campaign was able to catch the vandalism with a camera he installed prior to Benjamin tearing the sign down.

Because this was not the first time this sign was taken down at this same location, the camera was installed across the street in order to try to catch who was committing the vandalism. The Mills contends that their sign has been the only one being taken down, leading them to believe that this could be the work of one their Republican congressional opponents.

Cory Mills told The Floridian that he will be pursuing charges against Benjamin for the damage to his property.

According to Florida Statute, stealing any sign with a value of $100 is considered a second-degree misdemeanor punishable by up to 60 days in jail and a $500 fine.
