Castor Pushes Hard in Support of Abortions

The reversal of Roe v. Wade earlier this year has provided Democrats a rallying point with which to mobilize their voting base of support. Citing women's rights, bodily autonomy, and the burden of unwanted children, Democrats are working hard to make abortion the central plank of their midterm platform. Florida's own Democratic Representatives are no exception. Representative Kathy Castor (D-FL)  made a series of dramatic tweets Tuesday afternoon on July 26th.

In a meeting described as "urgent," Castor met with Planned Parenthood of Florida in Tampa. Accordingly, the discussion focused on the reversal of Roe v. Wade and Florida's resultant abortion ban.

I met with doctors and medical students in #Tampa at @PPFA- we had an urgent conversation about the dire consequences of Florida’s abortion ban and the reversal of Roe v. Wade," tweeted Rep. Castor.

Additional tweets were quick to follow, forming a thread featuring the common pro-abortion buzzwords. "Forced to give birth," "women will die," "women will lack healthcare."

"In addition to the harsh economic consequences of forcing girls + women to give birth, some will die unnecessarily if they do not receive the medical care they need. Health care in states like Florida with abortion bans will suffer as physicians lack training + others leave," Castor wrote.

Finally, Castor goes so far as to claim abortion bans will induce negative mental health effects.

As the midterms begin and candidates hit the trail, it remains to be seen if Democrats' centralization of abortion will prove effective. According to a Fox News poll conducted in January, 71% percent of Americans, including 49% of Democrats, support restrictions to abortion in some capacity. These include limiting abortion to the first three months of pregnancy or under circumstances such as rape, incest, and life of the mother.
