The upcoming 2022 midterm election will be closely watched considering that Republicans stand to usher in a “red wave” given estimates by political pundits. However, tension has grown among voters and legislators after the Supreme Court decided to overturn Roe vs. Wade. One district that Democrats are betting to turn blue is Florida’s 27th district, which Florida Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R) represents. Over the weekend, Rep. Salazar shared her support for the Supreme Court's decision and Florida State Senator. Annette Taddeo (D) responded by saying that Elvira Salazar is "a threat to reproductive rights" in Florida.

President Joe Biden (D) has commented on the November elections as his administration faces a low approval rating.

Political pundits have explored the effect that Biden's low approval rating can have on Democrats across the country.

"This fall, we must elect more senators and representatives who will codify a woman's right to choose into federal law," said the President, adding that "we need to elect more state leaders to protect this right at the local level."

"We need to restore the protections of Roe as law of the land," Biden affirmed.

After the Supreme Court made its announcement, Republicans across the country shared their support with some also sharing their disapproval.

One lawmaker who supported the decision is Rep. Salazar.

"As a Christian and the mother of two beautiful daughters, I support life. The Supreme Court decision gives power back to the states and their voters – where decisions should be made, just as the Constitution intends," Elvira Salazar shared on Twitter.

Rep. Taddeo, who's challenging Rep. Salazar, slammed the Florida Republican over the weekend, calling her "a threat to protecting reproductive rights" in Florida.

Amidst calls to mobilizing voters to support her candidacy, Taddeo argued that "Miami needs a member of Congress that has always and will always defend a woman’s right to choose."
