Sabatini Lands Big Gun Rights Lobby Endorsement

Share

The Gun Owners of America (GOA) gun rights lobby group has finally made its choice in the hotly contested Republican primary race in Florida’s 7th Congressional District – Rep. Anthony Sabatini.

Rep. Sabatini, who penned the Constitutional Carry legislation in the Florida Legislature, made the announcement during a debate with the other Republican congressional opponents, including combat veteran Cory Mills.

The Floridian was able to confirm the endorsement with GOA state director Luis Valdes, who said that the formal endorsement press release was delayed as a result of the Supreme Court’s ruling to overturn Roe vs. Wade.

Valdes added that the group has long supported Sabatini and his efforts to preserve gun rights since being elected to the state legislature.

GOA was split on endorsing Sabatini or Mills, with the highly-coveted endorsement having taken longer than expected,  but in the end, Sabatini was endorsed because of his actions to make Constitutional Carry law in Florida.

Both Mills and Sabatini, whose Second Amendment bona fides are beyond reproach, are considered the frontrunners in their race.

Mills, who owns a munitions manufacturing company and plant in Perry, Florida, has come ‘under fire’ from the Progressive House “Squad” over his company’s history of manufacturing munitions and tear gas that law enforcement has used to disperse crowds, crowds that include “Black Lives Matter” rioters during the summer of 2021 following the George Floyd murder.

Sabatini has been pushing for Constitutional Carry to be passed during a special legislative session this year, but incoming Speaker of the Florida House, Paul Renner, has announced that he would see to it that the gun measure is introduced and passed during the 2023 legislative session.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has stated that he would sign a Constitutional Carry gun law if it was presented to him.
