Governor Launches 'DeSantis Education Agenda' Plan

Share

Parental rights and education policies have become paramount in Florida politics as Republicans have dubbed Florida the, "Education State."  Now, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has officially launched the "DeSantis Education Agenda."

The "DeSantis Education Agenda: Putting Students First, Protecting Parents’ Rights," is a statewide blueprint for school board candidates and members who are committed to advancing Governor DeSantis’ agenda priorities at the local school board level.

The governor's re-election campaign has announced that the plan's contents consist of parental rights policies, and are combative of the, "woke agenda" being implemented in public school classrooms.

"Parents across Florida should ask school board candidates and their current school board members how they scored on the DeSantis Education Agenda. Florida’s students are thriving, our schools are open, teachers are paid more, and parents are empowered. This agenda serves as a model for the nation as Florida’s school board candidates run and win on the DeSantis Education Agenda," said Dave Abrams, DeSantis re-election campaign senior advisor.

Education has taken center stage of Governor DeSantis' prioritize, specifically during the 2022 legislative session in Tallahassee.  This year the legislature and the governor have passed laws that give sovereignty to parents in their child's education, banned FSA testing across the state, and mandated financial literacy classes for high schoolers.

The talking point is thought to be very popular, and could possibly help the governor in his re-election efforts.  Currently, over 60% of US voters supported the parental rights legislation in Florida this year.  Even a majority of Florida Democrats supported the bill's language despite Liberal lawmakers attempt at rebranding it the, "Don't Say Gay," bill.
