The Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) has just announced that they will be holding (4) Republican congressional primary debates during their 2022 Sunshine Summit being held at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida July 22-23.
The four debates will focus on the most contentious and contested races in the state.
State Senator Aaron Bean will debate businessman Erick Aguilar in the newly-drawn Jacksonville area seat.
Arguably the most-watched primary race in the state, combat veteran Cory Mills will debate along with former Navy Seal Brady Duke, former DeBary Vice Mayor Ericka Benfield, former Rep. John Mica COS Russell Roberts, businessman Scott Sturgill, State Rep. Anthony Sabatini, Ted Edwards, and Army officer Armando Santos.
Probably the second-most-watched race is this one. Anna Paulina Luna, Amanda Makki, Christian Quinn, Moneer Kheireddine, and Kevin Haslett, are all vying to replace Democratic Rep. Charlie Crist.
After former Army Green Berets Jay Collins and Jerry Torres decided to leave the race, State Senator Kelli Stargel, former Secretary of State Laurel Lee. Demetries Grimes, State Rep. Jackie Toledo, and Kevin McGovern are the qualified candidates in the GOP primary race. Gov. DeSantis has not picked a side in any of these congressional races, but has given subtle nods of approval for both Senator Stargel and Secretary Lee.\
DeSantis has mentioned both of their candidacies during recent press conferences in the area.
According to the RPOF, to qualify to be on the stage and participate in the debates, candidates must either poll at 5% or greater in an RPOF poll that will be conducted July 13th or "raised and publically reported at least $100,000 in monetary contributions" by the 13th.
