DeSantis Earns Endorsement from Hispanic Initiative Action Group

In late May, President Joe Biden’s (D) approval rating among Hispanics went dropped 29% in one year and hit the staggering a 26% approval rating. To pour salt in the wound for Florida Democrats, the Latino action group, Libre Initiative announced their endorsement of Governor Ron DeSantis (R) for his reelection.

The Libre Initiative, rooted in the Hispanic community, says that in the areas that Hispanics care about the most, they “seek to fix the broken policies that hinder everyone’s ability to succeed.”

The group would also state in a press release that “The Libre Initiative Action is a group committed to working with anyone to advance positive policies that promote the wellbeing of the Hispanic community.” They would go on to mention that “In support of Gov. Ron DeSantis LIBRE Action will knock on doors, make phone calls, and place digital ads, among other efforts. Governor Ron DeSantis is our candidate for re-election.”

Alian Collazo, an advisor to Libre according to the press release, stated that “We as Americans have a duty to advocate and push for better election results this year. Our inflation rates are higher than they have ever been at a time of incredible uncertainty. Governor Ron DeSantis’ steady leadership ensured that Florida was able to weather the storm better than other states by balancing economic opportunity and public safety. Since then, Gov. DeSantis has continued to support pro-growth economic policies, personalized health care and educational freedom to help all Floridians. This sentiment includes our state’s vibrant Hispanic community to pursue their dreams and live out their American Dream.”

According to a poll done by Axios in late March, DeSantis’ approval rating among Latino voters has reached 46%. To reach that number, his approval rating went up 7 points just from December of 2021 to March of 2022. Democrats have to worry about DeSantis keeping his residency in Tallahassee, but they might be more worried about DeSantis checking in for a 4 year stay on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in January of 2025.
