Club for Growth PAC Endorses Anna Paulina Luna

Florida’s 13th congressional district turned blue in the 2016 presidential election after years of electing Republican lawmakers. However, after losing to Florida rep. Charlie Crist (D) in the 2020 election, Anna Paulina Luna is seeking to secure the seat in November as Crist vies for the gubernatorial post. The Club for Growth PAC, which has effectively helped Republican candidates in the past win seats in Open races, has endorsed Paulina Luna in her congressional bid.

In a 2020 rematch, Paulina Luna faces Amanda Makki (R), as well as facing others for the nomination, but it appears that Paulina Luna is emerging once again as the Republican frontrunner for the seat.

In a statement, the organization praised the Republican’s efforts, calling her the necessary lawmaker for the open seat.

“Anna Paulina Luna has long been on Club for Growth PAC’s radar as a pro-growth economic conservative, and we are proud to endorse her for Congress in Florida’s 13th District,” the group said David McIntosh, the Club for Growth PAC President. “Her record as a veteran and a conservative fighter proves she will never back down from a challenge and is the perfect candidate to oppose Biden’s radical socialist agenda,” he added.

Aside from the organization, Paulina Luna has also picked up support from the likes of President Donald Trump (R), who has vowed to be as active as possible in the midterm election.

Although the district has remained blue for quite some years, waning faith in the Democratic party and in President Joe Biden (D) could signal the district going red. However, Democrats maintain that they will expand their control.

Two Democrats are also vying to replace Crist.

Christian Hotchkiss (D) and Eric Lynn (D) are seeking the Democratic nomination, and they’re hoping to keep the seat blue as a possible “red wave” approaches.
