Biden Forgets to Acknowledge 78th Anniversary of D-Day, Remembers at 9 pm

On the 78th anniversary of the June 6th D-Day invasion—a military operation that many historians say saved the world— Republican and Democratic leaders and elected officials, except for President Joe Biden, took to social media to remember the day when Allied forces made the huge and deadly push into Europe.

Did President Biden forget about the anniversary of D-Day or did his staff fail or refuse to tell him about it?

Republican Rep. Kat Cammack took it upon herself to remind the President at around 7 pm on Monday, directing a tweet at the President that called him out for not saying “a peep” all day about the anniversary, adding that “a real Commander-in-Chief would recognize the significance of the day.”

”Definitely reporting this tweet as “misinformation.” Also, the day is nearly out and not a peep from you about D-Day. A real Commander-in-Chief would recognize the significance of the day. Absolutely shameful,” tweeted Rep. Cammack

It took 2 hours (At 9pm) after Cammack’s tweet for President Biden to remember and acknowledge the D-Day invasion.

“Today, we mark 78 years since D-Day and honor those who answered duty’s call on the beaches of Normandy. We must never forget their service and sacrifice in defense of freedom, and we must strive every day to live up to the ideals they fought to defend,” tweeted Biden.

Cammack’s response to Biden was after his tweet about the Covid pandemic and how his administration put in place economic and vaccination plans to combat the pandemic.

Over the course of the day, and before his mention of the D-Day anniversary, Biden tweeted about Solar, a paid internship at The White House, Covid, and about the government doing something to address school shootings.

French President Emmanuel Macron made it a point to wake up at 2 am on June 6th and tweet about the anniversary and on behalf of France, extended his gratitude from the collective effort to liberate his country and the rest of Europe 78 years ago.

"On June 6, 1944, more than 150,000 brave heroes from 15 countries landed or were parachuted into Normandy. With their French brothers and sisters in arms, they gave their blood, their lives, for freedom and peace. For France. Our gratitude is endless." —French President Emmanuel Macron
