Sen. Marco Rubio
Over the weekend, Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) attended Polk County GOP’s Win Back America Rally. At the event, Rubio discussed “how Joe Biden’s disastrous leadership has led to sky-high inflation and record gas prices, open borders, and a formula crisis that is concerning parents everywhere.” Aside from criticizing the Biden administration, Rubio criticized Florida Rep. Val Demings (D) because of her voting record.
The Biden administration and Democrats have taken a significant hit in approval ratings due to the economy, rising inflation, immigration concerns, and the growing baby formula concern. This criticism has led to a rise in support in the GOP, and Senator Rubio discussed what this means for the upcoming election.
On Twitter, commenting on the event, Rubio said that "inflation, gas prices, even baby formula, everything is a disaster under Biden and the democrat congress."
"This is an election where people that may disagree with you or me on a bunch of issues but really think the country's headed in the wrong direction think we need to send some people up [to Washington] that think we need to stop this direction and put us back on the right one, and bring some common sense back to politics," said Rubio.
Drawing a distinction between himself and the senatorial hopeful, Rubio chastised Demings for her vote aligning with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D). "My opponent has voted with Pelosi 100% of the time... If you vote with Pelosi 100% of the time, I don't think that reflects common sense or is what Florida looks like," commenting Rubio, adding that the upcoming election is not just about "deciding which party is in charge or which team wins."
The Florida lawmaker argued that the election is about choosing "the identity of the nation," and at stake is what all these young people that are here, what the country is going to look like in 10 or 15 years."
