Grieco Says Leaked Abortion Opinion Should 'Scare the Shit out of you'

Miami-State Rep. Michael Grieco (D) was one of a handful of men that attended the Miami Freedom Tower rally supporting a woman’s right to choose (Abortion) that Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried held on Tuesday.

Rep. Grieco, who is an attorney that's known for his sharp tongue and wit, did not mince his words during his address to media and pro-Choice activists.

“I hear a lot of people talking about male white politicians. Well, I am a male white politician, that stands for a woman's right to choose. Always have, always will be,” proclaimed Greico.

Grieco told activists that the leaked Justice Samuel Alito's opinion regarding overturning Roe v. Wade, “should scare the shit out of you” because as he says, “there is nothing called unsettled law."

“I want you to know that that leaked opinion last night. That proves to us that there is nothing called unsettled law, everything is unsettled law. Nothing is settled anymore. That should scare the shit out of you. You should be scared that you can wake up every day. And the law can change overnight by people who are not even elected by Americans. They are elected. They were appointed by others.,” added Grieco.

Grieco, like many other Democratic lawmakers like Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, sees the leaked opinion as a call to arms and appears as if they will drive their opposition to the opinion all the way to the ballot box.

“We cannot take this lying down. No more playing nice,” concluded Greico. “We've got a bunch of activists back here. Activism is wonderful marches. And speeches and protests are wonderful. But that does not necessarily equate to votes and making change. We need to take this and we need to just shove it down their throats in November.”

Grieco is running for the Miami-Dade-centric State Senate in District 36.
