Rubio Team Releases Demings ‘Title 42’ Advertisement

Share

After accusing Florida Rep. Val Demings (D) of contributing to the “border crisis,” the Rubio team has released an advertisement against the Senatorial hopeful. The advertisement comments on Demings’ support of ending Title 42, a controversial pandemic policy that the Biden administration is looking to end.

The advertisement argues that “Title 42 allows border patrol to turn away illegal immigrants,” and audio from news reports indicate that the United States could experience “18,000” border crossings a day once the policy comes to an end. The advertisement continues to play audio from numerous reports, citing the severity of crossings in the border while also showing video footage from crossings.

Ultimately, the advertisement calls on Demings to “secure our border,” and the Florida Democrat has received some criticism after some pundits argued that she was “sidestepping” recent questions regarding the end of the policy.

The advertisement was distributed in an email to supporters with the Rubio team saying that “Demings regularly supports policies that make our border less secure and welcome illegal immigration, including allowing illegal immigrants to vote in our elections, supporting sanctuary cities, and creating a pathway to citizenship for gang members and sex offenders.”

In a statement, Elizabeth Gregory, the communications director for Marco Rubio for Senate, commented that “Val Demings’ refusal to take the necessary action in Congress to secure our border enabled record illegal immigration.”

Gregory said that President Biden and Rep. Demings wanting to pursue the end of Title 42 would lead to “an influx of 18,000 people every single day” because border patrol would no longer be allowed to turn away those crossing.

“Demings is choosing party politics over the safety and security of Floridians,” Gregory concluded.

Demings has not responded to the recent comments from the Rubio team regarding her alleged support to end Title 42. Pundits have also commented that Demings appears to be distancing herself from the president as his approval rating continues to falter.
