Patronis Wants to ‘Fight’ Washington in Reelection bid

Florida’s Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis (R) has received endorsements from top GOP officials, including President Donald Trump (R) and Florida’s Attorney General Ashley Moody (R). With Republicans heading into the upcoming 2022 midterm election with growing support, Patronis is vowing to “fight” Washington.

According to Predictit, both Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) and Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) are heading into their election with an advantage in support. Although Florida Rep. Val Demings (D) has outraised Rubio, the incumbent has maintained a lead over the former Orlando police chief.

Patronis, who is also the State Fire Marshal, argued that his main goal in being reelected is “to fight to make sure that we aren’t brought down by Washington.”

Amidst calls against DeSantis over a rise in home insurance premiums, Patronis has championed his effort to reform the state’s “assignment of benefits” laws. As his website states, his efforts combatted “laws that risked driving up home insurance premiums when contractors get homeowners to sign over their benefits in order to do repair work after storms.”

Patronis has also signaled the need for legislation that would expand cancer health benefits for firefighters and arson investigators, expressing that “watching what happened at Surfside changed me and I knew I needed to do something for those men and women that put everything on the line for those families.”

Should Patronis be reelected in November, the CFO said that he wants to further expand consumer protections, and he also wants to further pursue scammers and the exploitations of GoFundMe accounts.

In Moody’s endorsement, she praised Patronis, saying that “while Florida has had many challengers over the past three years, CFO Patronis has helped our state navigate these challengers and create a brighter future in our state.”

Patronis noted that “protecting the economy” is of the utmost importance, addince that “it is up to us to stay free,” echoing in the remarks of Governor DeSantis.
