Nightmare Poll Numbers Plague President Biden

Polls have never been the friend of a president going into the midterm election cycle, and the latest CBS poll finds  President Biden (D) enduring one of his worst approval ratings ever for any sitting president.

Just 3 years ago, Democrats boasted that former President Trump's (R) low approval ratings of around 40% were unprecedented.  However, it did not take too long for another administration to top these numbers, as President Biden currently holds a 42% approval rating.

This data shows a 20% drop this past year when he saw a 62% approval rating in March of 2021.

So, what has changed for Joe Biden to lose this much support in a little over a year?

The same CBS poll measured the Biden Administration's handling of several recent crises that can answer this question.  On crime, immigration, the economy, and inflation, Biden is underwater.

61% of Americans polled disapprove of his handling of crime, 62% disapprove of his handling of immigration, 63% disapprove of his handling of the economy, and a whopping 69% disapprove of his handling of inflation.

In spite of a positive jobs report, Americans are still not pleased with the economic policies of the Biden Administration.  Pollsters reported that Americans are measuring this majorly off of recent gas prices and inflation, which appears to outweigh the importance of the unemployment rate for voters.

The same poll measured personal experiences with the recent economy, in which only 8% of respondents reported higher prices due to inflation having, "no effect," on their families.

No doubt, these are numbers that the GOP is looking to expound upon for the upcoming midterm election cycle.  Polls conducted throughout this past year have already shown a hopeful image for Republicans in 2022, with 78% of Capitol Hill aides predicting a GOP victory in the midterm.
