Florida police Chiefs Association Endorses Rubio

Earlier this year, Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) received the endorsements of a majority of Florida Sheriffs in his reelection campaign. Now, the Florida Republican has garnered more support from law enforcement as the Florida Police Chiefs Association has just endorsed the incumbent.

The organization consists of 1000+ Florida Law Enforcement Executives, and it comes amidst Florida Rep. Val Demings (D), a former Orlando Police Chief, who continues to challenge Rubio for the office.

Sharing the endorsement in a press conference, Stephan Dembinsky, the FPCA president and the Daytona Beach Shores Public Safety Department Director, commented that “on behalf of the Florida Police Chiefs Association, we are honored to endorse Senator Marco Rubio for reelection to the U.S. Senate.”

Dembinsky added that “Senator Rubio has been a consistent supporter of law enforcement in our nation’s capital, standing not just for public safety but for the health and welfare of law enforcement officers, even when it hasn’t been politically popular.”

He concluded by noting that the organization “is proud to support Senator Rubio, and we look forward to continuing our work with him on behalf of the people of Florida.”

In response to the endorsement, the Florida Republican expressed that the state’s “law enforcement are vital to the safety and security of our communities.”

Rubio further expressed that “these men and women wake up every day not knowing what they might face that day, but they put on their uniforms anyway and go out and do their jobs.”

Noting that the organization “has put their support behind me,” Rubio promised, “to continue to fight for our law enforcement in Washington.”

In late January, when Rubio received the endorsement of numerous Sheriffs, Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey criticized Rubio’s opponent, saying that Demings “turned her back on her profession as she stood with the soft on crime crowd in Washington, D.C.”
