Elon Musk Buys Twitter; Rubio Weighs In

Share

In a story that has been developing over the last couple of weeks, after back and forth of whether it was going to happen, Elon Musk has finally bought Twitter. For a price of around 44 billion dollars, the Space X and Tesla head honcho will now take the reins of the social media giant.

As expected, the response to the news of Musk’s acquirement of the company was met with a mixed response. Musk claims that now the company goes too far in its censorship of users but would like to see Twitter viewed as a “digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated.”

Musk stated in a tweet

“By 'free speech,' I simply mean that which matches the law. I am against censorship that goes beyond the law. If people want less free speech, they will ask government to pass laws to that effect. Therefore, going beyond the law is contrary to the will of the people.”

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) claimed in multiple tweets himself that due to the Musk acquisition, the far left is fearing “losing power to threaten, silence and destroy” their rivals.

“The meltdown over the @twitter purchase by @elonmusk is all because the far left fears losing the power to threaten, silence and destroy anyone who doesn’t agree with them.”

He also stated that Twitter doesn’t accurately reflect mainstream thought throughout the nation and that “cultural Marxists are freaking out” about this notion.

“The cultural Marxists are freaking out about twitter because they want to continue to silence anyone who exposes how far outside the mainstream their views on immigration, crime, race, gender & free speech are”

The mood inside Twitter HQ is reported to be “absolutely insane” according to New York Times reporter Talmon Joseph Smith.
