DeSantis: Democrats Want 'Absolute Control' Over Voters

Amidst criticism from political opponents, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) is pushing back and accusing Democrats of wanting to enact “absolute control” over voters. DeSantis, who’s intensified his rivalry with Democrats in recent weeks given a number of bills he’s signed, called himself “a fighter” who’s trying to maintain Florida as a free state.

Colorado Governor Jared Polis (D) has positioned himself as a DeSantis rival ahead of the 2022 election, which could help motivate and mobilize Democratic voters in light of the significant support that Republicans have amounted.

In the state, Florida Rep. Charlie Crist (D) has emerged as a likely candidate to take on DeSantis in the November election, and he’s amped up criticism while receiving a significant boost from union support.

“While Ron DeSantis is busy spinning up divisive culture wars, Floridians are drowning in costs and a failing property insurance market,” said Crist on social media, calling it “the DeSantax.” Similarly, Polis responded to the feud between Disney and DeSantis, calling on Disney to ditch Florida and move to Colorado after DeSantis signed a bill dissolving Disney’s right to self-govern.

However, the Governor has responded to the criticism by telling voters that “the radical Left has made me their #1 target.” “By prioritizing freedom and personal liberty, I am fighting against what they want – absolute control over you,” DeSantis added.

“Over the last 2 years, blue states, run by arms of the Democrat machine, have done nothing but restrict the freedoms of the people that they were elected to protect,” expressed the Florida Governor, saying that “Democrat governors have colluded with their corporate media lapdogs to divide our country and take away our God-given rights.”

The Governor has largely disregarded his Democratic opponents, questioning "what party" Crist is going to run in when Crist announced his candidacy. Moreover, DeSantis has signaled that Republicans are going to deliver a "red wave" come the November election.
