Rubio Slams Demings’ ‘Half-Baked’ Foreign Policy

Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) continues to criticize Florida Rep. Val Demings (D), arguing that she has been “half-baked” on foreign policy concerns. Whether it’s issues related to Cuba, Venezuela or Colombia, the Florida Republican accused Demings of not “standing up against radical socialists in Latin America.”

Rep. Demings has affirmed Florida voters that they deserve better than Senator Rubio has to offer as a lawmaker. However, Rubio has warned that Rep. Demings is unfit for office, warning that she struggles “between her allegiance to the Biden administration and standing up against radical socialists in Latin America.”

Aside from the ongoing COVID pandemic, the last few years have been marred by foreign policy concerns under the guidance of the Biden Administration.

With protests erupting in Cuba against the Castro regime, FARC being removed from the State Department’s list of foreign terrorist organizations, and the Biden Administration’s move to lift Venezuelan sanctions to receive oil, Senator Rubio says that the Florida Democrat has not done enough.

“Florida has the largest population of Cuban Americans in the United States, and yet Val Demings, who wishes to represent them, did not seem too concerned with the plight of Cubans before announcing her run for Senate,” said Rubio.

Regarding FARC and Colombia, Rubio said that his opponent “only commented after being called out for her lack of interest in weighing in.”

Finally, as the country pursues less oil independence on Russia, the Biden Administration is seeking an alternative source in Venezuela. This has drawn criticism from both Republicans and Democrats alike.

“Demings failed to recognize our nation’s support of President Guaido’s Interim Government or condemn Biden’s disastrous decision to send U.S. officials to negotiate with the narco-regime, while also expressing a willingness to negotiate with Maduro’s narco-regime.”

“Cuban-, Colombian-, and Venezuelan-Americans in Florida see Demings for what she truly is: a political opportunist who will gladly sell out those fighting oppression in the name of pushing her radical, far-left agenda here at home,” Rubio concluded.
