Ross Announces Congressional run 'to Restore Hope'

After retiring from the U.S. Congress in 2018, former Congressman Dennis Ross (R) has just announced that he is making a run for Florida’s 15th congressional district. The open seat is largely comprised of the previous district he served, and the announcement comes after a long debacle between Democrats and Republicans regarding the state’s redistricting map. In his announcement, Ross touched on a number of topics, expressing his intent "to restore hope in America's greatness."

The Florida Republican directed criticism at the Biden Administration, saying that the president has ‘run our country into a ditch – effects we see every day at the gas pump and in the grocery store.” Contrasting with the president’s assurance in his State of the Union address that the country is better off today than it was a year ago, Ross claims that “our country is worse off today because of their failed agenda and policies.” This is why Ross feels he has a “responsibility to restore fiscal responsibility and conservative principles to the halls of Congress.”

As a Florida lawmaker, Ross previously served four terms in Congress, and his biography shared with his announcement explains that his focus went “from lowering taxes and growing the economy, to defending conservative values and supporting a strong, national security.”

In his explanation for launching another run, the Congressman commented on growing inflation and the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.

“The United States is weaker globally as witnessed by the war in Ukraine and China’s threats on Taiwan and our enemies across the globe are emboldened by the lack of leadership coming out of Washington, DC.

Political pundits speculate that the upcoming midterm election could usher in a red wave based on the president’s sinking approval rating, and Florida as a battleground state will be host to a number of closely watched elections.

“On every issue, Congress is failing us,” asserted Ross, saying that he “cannot sit back and watch.”

As a result, his goal is “to restore hope in America’s greatness” and to “bring strong, conservative leadership and a positive vision for our country back to Congress.”
