Putin Sanctions Biden, Trump Takes Aim

Share

In what appears to be an effort of “reciprocity,” Russian leader Vladimir Putin and the Russian government have officially sanctioned President Joe Biden (D) and other high-ranking U.S. officials. Perhaps this is in direct response to the United States sanctioning Putin and Russia’s Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov in late February.

Russian Foreign Ministry Lavrov said in an official statement:

“In response to a series of unprecedented sanctions prohibiting, among other things, entry into the United States for top officials of the Russian Federation, from March 15 of this year, the Russian ‘stop list’ includes on the basis of reciprocity President J. Biden, Secretary of State A. Blinken, Secretary of Defense L. Austin and Charmain of the Joint Chiefs of Staff M. Milley, as well as a number of department heads and prominent US figures.”

Upon hearing about the Russian move to sanction Presiden Biden, former President Donald Trump (R) took a shot at the Biden administration upon hearing the news.

President TrumpTrump and his team wasted no time firing up a response to the Russian response. While acknowledging that foreign sanctions on an American president are never a good thing, Mr. "Art of the Deal" himself attempted to strike the balance between sympathy and contempt.

"While that (the Russian sanctions) is a terrible thing, in so many ways, perhaps it will now be explained why the Biden family received 3.5 million dollars from the very wealthy former Mayor of Moscow's wife...Perhaps that's why Biden has been so 'slow on the draw' with Russia. This is a really bad conflict of interest that will, perhaps now, be fully and finally revealed!"

However, other Republicans such as Marco Rubio (R-FL), gave a more unified response to the sanctions, declaring the sanctions "meaningless."

"Putin's sanctions are meaningless. Russian troops are suffering stunning casualties and are losing the will to fight against Ukrainian civilians so he needs something to make him appear tough at home," said Sen. Rubio in response to The Floridian's request for comment.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine which military analysts believed would end in a matter of days, has entered its 3rd week.
