POLL: Biden Continues Losing Hispanic Voters in Florida

Share

The Biden Administration has struggled against low approval ratings in recent polls. A new poll conducted by Florida International University indicates that the president’s approval rating continues to take a hit with Hispanic voters.

The poll, conducted by the Latino Public Opinion Forum, asked 1016 voting Hispanics over their views of the Biden Administration’s job so far.

With a 4.4 margin of error, those surveyed were specifically from Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Colombia.

33.5% of those polled said they approved of the Biden Administration’s time in office while 20.8% said they neither approved nor disapproved and 23.5% said they disapproved.

Moreover, when it comes to political parties, 35.6% of Independents disapprove while 23% neither disapprove or approve and 23.6% disapprove.

The poll comes amidst an unfolding war between Russia and Ukraine after Russia launched an invasion last week. Moreover, Biden’s State of the Union address was criticized by political pundits.

One vocal critic, a political figure who could be facing Biden in 2024, is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R). Accusing the president of “lies, omissions, and delusions,” the Governor argued that Biden’s first year in office has been a disaster because of “the worst border crisis in our country’s history” and the fact that Biden “took zero responsibility for the worst inflation in forty years due to his reckless spending.”

Nonetheless, the president maintained in his speech that the country is better than it was a year ago.

After the president’s speech, Biden also faced mounting criticism regarding immigration reform.

Although he did mention his support for a “pathway to citizenship,” his Build Back Better bill has been chastised for having “gone nowhere in the evenly divided Senate.”

In January, a poll conducted by Morning Consult/Politico concluded “that 56% of registered voters disapprove of Biden’s handling of immigration.”

Julio Ricardo Varela, founder of Latino Rebels, which is an activist news outlet that supports immigration reform, commented that “the reality is that our community has been fooled by  the Democratic party in a lot of ways when it comes to this issue.”
