House Democrats Want Biden to Declare National Climate Emergency

Share

According to Fox News, Democrats in the House of Representatives are going to encourage President Joe Biden (D) to issue a national climate emergency which would stop oil drilling on public land, and would disallow companies to receive subsidies for fossil fuels.

This would be part of a large executive order to come sometime this week.

Gas prices have soared, and Americans are feeling a lighter wallet in their pockets.

Republicans have called for more drilling on U.S. land due to the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine. Rep. Jim Jordan (OH-R) called this potential executive order to be “Maybe the dumbest idea of the year.”

“Gas prices are at record levels. Doesn’t matter to House Democrats. They want President Biden to declare a national ‘climate emergency’ and ban oil drilling on federal lands. Maybe the dumbest idea of the year.”

The rush for this executive order comes at an interesting time for the Biden administration. The President has vowed that the gas price hike is solely Vladimir Putin’s fault, while the House Democrats prepare to publicly call for the end of oil drilling on federal land.

Biden will be between a rock and a hard place. He can either yield to the party demands, or he can choose to keep gas prices from experiencing another spike.

Should he choose the former, The President could no longer blame Putin for the price at the pump.
