DeSantis Touts Continued Job Growth in Florida

Share

Today, Governor DeSantis (R-FL) updated the state on Florida's economic development.  Florida saw jobs added for the 22nd consecutive month as the unemployment rate continued to fall.

Gov. DeSantis made remarks after data regarding Florida's economy in February of 2022 was released, showing very positive results that do not seem to be slowing down any time soon.

"Florida’s freedom first policies have made Florida a great state for businesses and families to grow," said Governor Ron DeSantis. "When you put freedom first, you put hardworking families first, and every Floridian reaps the benefits. February’s economic data is more concrete evidence that Florida is on the right path."

The jobs report concluded that the unemployment rate, as of last month, hit 3.3%, a number almost unheard of at the national level.  The current national unemployment rate is 3.8%, which means that Florida's unemployment rate has beat the nations' for the 15th consecutive month now.

The February 2022 labor force grew by 3.2% over the year, outpacing the national over-the-year labor force growth rate of 2.3%.  The state’s total private sector employment increased by 52,000 jobs in February 2022, which is an increase of 0.6 percent over the month. There were 8,132,300 private sector jobs statewide in February 2022, an increase of 525,200 jobs, or 6.9 percent, over the year.

Although the data for the month of February indicates an economically healthy Florida, there are many job opportunities still available for Floridians throughout the state, with nearly 452,000 jobs posted online.
