Demings Blasts Rubio, Alleges He Supports Tax Plan

US Rep. Val Demings (D-FL) blasted US Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) for supporting Senator Rick Scott's new tax plan that could potentially raise taxes on lower-income Americans.

Rep. Demings alleges that the tax proposal thought up by Senator Scott (R-FL) would raise taxes on elderly populations and families.  Whether this is true or not is not the issue, but Senator Rubio's response is what may look costly for the Rubio campaign.

When asked about the idea, Rubio reportedly said, "I think it's a good thing."   Demings believes this is simply a demonstration of her election opponent for the Florida Senior Senate seat standing by his party bosses.

The plan proposes that all Americans pay income tax so everyone has, "skin in the game."  However, not everyone pays income taxes, such as, "low-income families, retirees, and veterans do not pay income taxes."

Since Scott's plan has gone public, the Rubio campaign has been hesitant to declare official support for the idea, which the Demings team believes is a calculated political move.

This latest attack compliments the most recent wave of Demings campaign efforts.  Just yesterday the Congresswoman's team released an attack ad styled video where the narrative consisted of a Marco Rubio, "running from Florida."  In this video, Scott's 11 point plan is mentioned and used against the Senior Senator.

Rubio’s campaign maintains that the advertisement is fiction, saying that Demings “has launched an attack ad that likes and smears Marco’s record.”
