Demings Blames U.S. oil Companies for Rising Gas Prices

Share

Nationwide, Americans are feeling a bit skinnier wallet in their pockets as gas prices continue to soar.  The Russian invasion of Ukraine has caused fuel prices to skyrocket to historic levels.

President Joe Biden (D) refuses to allow U.S. oil companies to break ground on federal land making the United States energy-dependent and has forced the Biden administration to go to countries such as Venezuela and Iran to buy crude oil from them. This coincides with the old saying: We do not negotiate with terrorists (unless it's for oil).

However, an interesting take hit social media Sunday morning when Rep. Val Demings (FL-D) seemed to blame U.S. oil companies for the rise in gas prices nationwide. This is what she had to say:

"One reason for higher gas prices? Companies export gas that could be used here. I’ve asked the administration to limit oil and gas exports to further reduce costs for families."

Ironically, Demings has supported the Biden administration's reluctance to engage in drilling projects- like the one in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). Demings also opposes "efforts to open Florida coastal areas to drilling." according to her congressional website.

So let's get this straight: American oil companies are put on leashes when it comes to drilling under the Biden administration (a stance in which Demings agrees with), making it harder for them to compete with foreign nations. But now, these oil companies have to sell American, even if it isn't in their best interest.

Now, I think almost all Americans agree, it is a good thing to buy American products.

But Val Demings telling U.S. oil companies to keep everything in-house is like your friend purposely breaking your leg and then getting angry when you don't say "How high?" when they ask you to jump.

Senator Marco Rubio, who Rep. Demings is challenging for the U.S. Senate in 2022, recently put out this video accusing Demings of not supporting "American oil production."
