Crist Welcomes 6 new Endorsements

After meeting with officials in Puerto Rico, Florida Rep. Charlie Crist (D) has added 6 new endorsements on his gubernatorial journey. The endorsements range from community leaders to elected officials across the state. Adding to his 130 endorsements, the new batch of supporters argue that Crist “will get the job done.”

Broward State Attorney Harold Pryor expressed his support for Crist as Governor, citing the former Governor of Florida’s efforts to restore voting rights to nonviolent felons during his time in office from 2007-2011.

“As Governor, Charlie was a champion of civil rights, doing what no other Governor has ever done by restoring the voting rights of over 155,000 returning citizens,” said Pryor, adding that “once elected, I know he will do it again and fight to fix our broken criminal justice system.”

Pryor added that Crist “has a long history of fighting to give Floridians their voices back, and now I’m proud to use my voice to endorse Charlie to be the next Governor of Florida.”

The gubernatorial hopeful faces challengers in Florida’s Agricultural Commissioner Nikki Fried (D) and state Senator Annette Taddeo (D).

On social media, Taddeo shared that she had spoken to South Florida AFL-CIO, and Fried received criticism for having previously campaigned with Florida Rep. Manny Diaz (R), saying that she stands behind her “record as a Democrat.”

Joining Pryor in supporting Crist are 2006 Florida gubernatorial nominee Jim Davis (D), Tallahassee Mayor Dorothy Inman-Johnson, Tampa City Councilman Mike Suarez, Venice Mayor Ron Feinsod, and Hillsborough County School Board member Karen Perez.

In response to the endorsements, Crist said, “we’re rolling up our sleeves and turning the tide blue this November to deliver a Florida that is united, not divided by all the hate coming out of Tallahassee.”

“Together, we’re  going to build a Florida that leaves no one behind and always puts the people first,” Crist said, adding that his campaign is “fighting to build a Florida that we can all call home, and we won’t stop until we bring back good to our Sunshine State.”
