Cammack Questions Biden Over China and North Korea

Florida Rep. Kat Cammack (R) has joined the Republican Study Committee (RSC) National Security and Foreign Affairs Task Force Chairman Joe Wilson (R) and RSC Chairman Jim Banks (R) in directing a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The letter, signed by 28 members of Congress, addresses “the Biden’s administration’s failure to use congressionally approved sanctions against China for providing support to North Korea.”

Rep. Cammack, a vocal critic of the Biden administration, joins the RSC officials in arguing “that the administration has issued sanctions on North Korea’s weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programs twice, but questions why additional entities in China and Russia have not been sanctioned following noted violations by the United Nations Security Council.”

Citing violations of the North Korea Sanctions and Policy Enhancement Act of 2016, the lawmakers question why the Biden administration hasn’t sanctioned individuals, entities, and financial institutions in connection to the violations. Moreover, the lawmakers also question what measures the administration is taking to address the growing relationship between the Iran and North Korea.

In a statement, Cammack commented that “sanctions against North Korea will not work until we hold China accountable,” adding that “under President Trump, the U.S. imposed sanctions on Chinese banks and financial institutions that provided support to North Korea, but ever since Biden took office, we’ve seen zero sanctions out of this White House.”

Cammack added that “despite several missile launches and provocations, this administration repeatedly fails to hold China accountable for its work with North Korea,” thanking the RSC for “calling out the Biden State Department for its gross failures on this front.”

lawmakers have warned about the growing threat of China, and opposition has grown since the Biden administration announced its intention to  renew a nuclear deal with Iran.

Calling the potential deal a "disaster," Cammack argued that it's one of "three bad decisions the Biden administration has made."
