In light of the controversial Parental Rights in Education bill that Gov. Ron DeSantis will soon sign into law, many corporations and individuals have performed activism at levels never seen before. However, Disney employees across the US are staging a walkout after the company's CEO displayed a "lack of action."
Many criticized the bill that prohibits dialogue concerning homosexuality in K-3rd grade classrooms, but none like the Walt Disney Corporation, who even called for a meeting with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL).
However, many employees, including those working at the California theme park, do not think the company has gone far enough in its opposition to the law.
A video posted this week shows Disney employees in California walking out of their offices and chanting, "say gay," which to them is the antithesis of the legislation:
The video was retweeted by DeSantis' Press Secretary Christina Pushaw (R-FL) who stated, "Good thing Californians cannot vote in Florida elections. Worry about your own state."
The organizers of the protests have since released a statement to the public, saying that Disney's leadership on the bill, "have utterly failed to match the magnitude of the threat to LGBTQIA+ safety represented by this legislation."
