Activist Lawmaker Calls DeSantis a QAnon Conspiracy Theorist

As the controversial issue of allowing Transgendered individuals to compete in women’s sports and use female-only facilities, gay rights activists across the nation continue to push the narrative that Republicans like Gov. Ron DeSantis are QAnon conspiracy theorists, and are against gay and transgendered children.

During a Trump rally in Georgia this past weekend, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R) stated that Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg and his husband “ can stay out of our girl's bathrooms.”

"And you know what, Pete Buttigieg can take his electric vehicles and his bicycles," she said. "And he and his husband can stay out of our girl's bathrooms."

Rep. Greene’s remarks were a clear message to Buttigieg and the LGBTQ community that she opposed individuals who identify themselves as Transgender from using girl’s bathrooms.

In Florida, where the controversial Parental Rights in Education bill has passed in the Florida Legislature and is expected to be signed into law by Gov. DeSantis, Rep. Carlos Guillermo Smith (D), an outspoken and openly-gay legislator, doubled down on his past remarks against the DeSantis administration.

“Shocking and abhorrent as these comments are, they’re NO DIFFERENT from the slanderous accusations of grooming and pedophilia promoted by

@GovRonDeSantis office against LGBTQ Floridians. #DeSantis, MTG and QAnon have become one and the same,” tweeted Rep. Smith, before adding that there was  no “difference between these unhinged attacks on LGBTQ people.”

Rep. Smith, a Democratic Socialist state legislator, is referring to the statement that DeSantis’s Spokeswoman Christina Pushaw recently made where she enraged Smith and other Florida Democrats by tweeting that  if you are "against the Anti-Grooming Bill, you are probably a groomer or at least you don't denounce the grooming of 4-8-year-old children."  Pushaw added,  "Silence is complicity.  This is how it works, Democrats, and I didn't make the rules."

Smith responded to Pushaw’s remarks, calling them “bigoted attacks” against the LBGTQ community.

"Bigoted attacks like this against LGBTQ people are the worst of the worst. They’re disgusting and dangerous and have NO PLACE in the Guv’s office,” stated Smith before calling for Pushaw’s resignation.

The back and forth between Smith and Pushaw continued with the sharp spokeswoman stating,” an attack dog will holler,” in depicting Smith.

"If Democrats think they're on the right side of this argument, why do they misrepresent the facts about the bill?"  Asked Pushaw, adding, "It's not about LGBT people and doesn't have the word 'gay.'  It's about safeguarding kids," stated Pushaw.

"Republicans and Democrats must condemn these personal and libelous attacks on my character, paid with taxpayer money,” said Smith in response.

Democrats have labeled the bill the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, but nowhere in legislation does it mention the word “gay.”

Gov. DeSantis recently questioned a reporter for “pushing false narratives” about the parental rights measure, pressing that nowhere in the bill does it mention the word “gay.”

"I am asking you to tell me what's in that bill because you are pushing false narratives.  It doesn't matter what critics say," said DeSantis.

Republican State House candidates Brian Clowdus, another openly-gay Floridian scoffed at the “Don’t Say Gay” narrative being propagated by Democrats, reiterating what DeSantis and others have said.

“Nowhere does it say you can’t talk about being gay or can’t talk about having 2 moms or 2 dads. It says there cannot be classroom INSTRUCTION regarding sexual orientation and gender identity for kids k-3,” said Clowdus.

A new nationwide poll finds that 50 percent of Americans support the Parental Rights in Education bill, while only 32 percent disapprove of it.
