The Walt Disney Corporation has been the strongest voice in opposition to Florida's Parental Rights in Education bill, now a new poll shows that 67% of Americans think Disney is on the wrong side of the argument.
A new poll released by the Daily Wire shows that more than two thirds of Americans disapprove of Disney employee's stance on the legislation that has been dubbed the, "Don't Say Gay," bill. Even 60% of Disney consumers support the legislation themselves.
The survey consisted of 1,000 Americans, of which 37% identified as Democrats, 32% Republican, and 31% independent. The Daily Wire then presented the text of the legislation to the respondents and asked if Disney was right or wrong in their stance.
While 67% answered that Disney is wrong, only 33% said that Disney was right. In terms of individuals who identified as Disney consumers, 61% still said the company was wrong, and only 39% claimed they were right.
Although Americans and even their own customers seem to be totally opposed to this, the company is still convinced that they have not even done enough. Across the US, Disney employees staged walkouts, received an apology from their CEO, and the company has even announced launching more LGBTQ projects for kids.
Many employees have come forward angry about Disney's lack of support for the LGBTQ community, even in the face of the company producing children's LGBTQ media for years, like the short film, "Out," that was released in 2020 on the streaming platform Disney+ and featured a gay man struggling to come out to his parents.
The backlash has even forced the company to make concessions, such as re-inserting a gay kiss scene in the movie, "Lightyear," a Toy Story spin off that is set to be released later this year.
Protests regarding the legislation mostly occurred in California, where the bill will not even have jurisdiction.
