Taddeo Dubbed 'the Most Compelling Candidate'

State Senator Annette Taddeo (D) has shared an article from the Economist calling her “the most compelling candidate” in the upcoming 2022 midterm election. The Florida Democrat is currently campaigning across the state of Florida on her RV tour to unseat Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R).

In the article, Sen.Taddeo is called “the most compelling candidate” who is also “the first Latina Democrat to be elected as a state senator, representing Miami-Dade County.”

The article also points out criticism Taddeo has directed at DeSantis, saying that his “biggest weakness” is the fact “that he is concerned about Iowa and New Hampshire voters, not Floridians.”

Sen.Taddeo embarked on the “I Believe” tour, which will traverse Florida’s 67 counties with the goal of expressing to voters that she is running for Governor to represent every voter in the state. Taking notes from Florida Governor Lawton Chiles (D) , who embarked on a similar trek on foot in a 1970 Senate race, Taddeo has held press conferences to criticize DeSantis’ handling of the state amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. In light of reported tension between President Donald Trump (R) and DeSantis, Taddeo has also reminded voters that she ran for office in a 2017 special election in a state Senate district that had voted for President Trump the previous year.

Taddeo shared on social media noted that November will be the month wherein “Sunshine State voters will be able to express at the polls whether their governor’s pitch for national attention irks them,” adding that “one Floridians watching closely will be Mr. Trump, who has been taking oblique potshots at his protégé-turned-potential-rival.”

DeSantis has not confirmed whether or not he will be pursuing a 2024 presidential election, but Democrats have often argued that DeSantis is using his position as Governor to expand his political aspirations in the future.
