Spalding Outraising Wasserman Schultz in 2022

Share

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D) and Carla Spalding (R) are heading for another election day clash, but could the results of the 2020 Midterm elections have a different outcome than the 2020 Presidential elections?

Spalding, a registered nurse from Hallandale Beach, Florida, beat Rep. Wasserman Schultz during early voting and on election day in both Miami-Dade and Broward Counties last year.

Rep. Wasserman Schultz was able to defeat Spalding after garnering the overwhelming majority of mail-in ballots that were cast in that congressional district.

But with Republicans in control of redistricting, and with the Biden administration weighing down Democratic Party chances of retaining their majorities in the U.S. Congress, Spalding could pull off an upset later this year?

According to the latest Federal Election Commission (FEC) financial reports, Spalding has outraised Rep. Wasserman Schultz by $100,000 in the 2022 election cycle.

To date, Spalding has raised a total of $1,057, 663.87 while Rep. Wasserman Schultz has raised $944,681.83.

Wasserman Schultz has a significant advantage in cash-on-hand and could turn on the fundraising at the drop of a dime.

But with ten months until election day, money is expected to flood into Spalding’s campaign, and with former President Donald Trump eyeing this race between Wasserman Schultz and Spalding, Republican chances of picking up this deep blue congressional seat have increased.

“Americans have had enough of the failed economic policies of the Biden administration that my opponent has championed. She is complicit with the ongoing destruction of our national economy as a result of Bidenflation, and has embraced the weakness that this president has projected to the rest of the world,” said Spalding in a statement.

The redistricting process is expected to wrap up in the coming weeks and Republicans could be poised to gain a congressional majority in the state.
