Mast Says Biden 'Sending a Middle Finger' to Florida Over Water Conservation

Several Republicans have joined forces to criticize President Joe Biden (D) as “despicable,” arguing that the President is not doing enough for water conservation in Florida. Led by Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), Florida lawmakers including Florida Rep. Byron Donalds (R), Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) and Rep. Brian Mast (R) took part in a press conference aimed at “Protecting Florida Together.”

The lawmakers took issue with Democrats, expressing that the party has refused to include money in the budget that would go towards water conservation. Instead, they argue that lawmakers would rather spend money on things that have nothing to do with the environment,.

Taking to social media to discuss the press conference, Mast shared that “people are being poisoned in Florida from toxic water, and Joe Biden is up there in DC using taxpayer dollars to funnel support to his allies and punish his enemies,” adding that “just like in Afghanistan, he cares far more about politics than people.”

In the press conference, Mast directed blame to the Biden administration, telling Floridians that they’re “not seeing one dollar go to it from this federal appropriations because Gov. DeSantis made this a crown jewel for his environment.” “That’s the Biden administration sending a middle finger over to Florida unfortunately,” added Mast.

The Florida Republican also shared a segment of Governor DeSantis speaking, and Mast shared that “the EAA Reservoir is key to restoring the Everglades and stopping toxic discharges to the estuaries.” He further expressed that the Biden Administration is “despicable” for allegedly choosing not to provide funding for the project.

Rep. Donalds also added that the Biden administration has failed Floridians and has refused to fund the state's crucial reservoir project out of sheer spite.

"This administration has failed with all the money that's being spent in this “infrastructure bill” that's bipartisan, you figure they would find some money for the EAA reservoir and frankly the president just failed to do so like he does on so many other things," said Rep. Donalds.

Senator Rubio also shared some words, making a distinction between the Trump Administration and the Biden Administration. In reference to the Trump Administration, Rubio said that Trump brought "consistency," explaining that the former President helped Florida by providing environmental funding.
