DeSantis Announces Florida Officially Outperforming Nation in Job Growth

Share

Florida in recent years has become the political center of the country, now Governor DeSantis (R-FL) has announced that Florida is officially outperforming the nation in job growth.

With 20 consecutive months of job growth and 14 consecutive months of labor force increases found in the December of 2021 jobs report, the Florida economy is a force to be reckoned with.  Florida businesses in total over the last year were able to create a total of 479,300 jobs.

This records the Florida job growth rate at 5.6% while the national average remains a close second at 4.5% job growth.  Labor force growth has also outpaced the nation by more than six times, with a population of labor workers that outnumbers the labor force in February of 2020 (pre-pandemic).

“Month after month, the data continues to show that freedom first economic policies create jobs and keep our economy moving,” said Governor DeSantis. “Our new businesses and workforce growth show that Floridians have the opportunities they need to thrive.  We will continue to lead the nation in economic growth because we value the individual freedoms of Floridians and protect the ability for our citizens to succeed.”

Secretary Dane Eagle of the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity credits Governor DeSantis for the recent success stating, "Governor DeSantis continues to prioritize investments in industries that further diversify our state’s economy," adding, "Floridians have remained confident in their ability to find good jobs to continue providing for their families and enhancing their quality of life. Along with Governor DeSantis, I remain committed to continuing to make Florida an attractive state for business and workforce growth for years to come."

Currently, there are over 550,000 jobs listed online for Floridians to grab up. Floridians can visit Florida Insight for more information on the labor market and economic data. Additionally, the Department has provided a video to assist users in explaining the data provided through Florida Insight and the new platform.

The recent data has created an opportunity for Florida, as well as national Republicans to capitalize on the upcoming midterm election.  The GOP has long contested that President Biden (D) would and has hurt the national economic output the US grew accustomed to under President Trump (R).
