Florida Republican Lawmaker Believes DeSantis Would Beat Trump in Primary

With Trump politics still running the Republican Party, everybody has seemingly overlooked the 2022 midterm in anticipation of former President Trump's (R) probable presidential candidacy announcement.  However, not everybody believes this is President Trump's nomination to lose, especially State Rep. Spencer Roach (R-79), who boldly claimed DeSantis would beat Trump in a primary race.

A self-described, "10th Amendment Conservative," Rep. Roach has a proven track record of Conservatism in the Florida legislature.  However, the South Florida Representative is being honest when it comes to the 2024 election when he says, "I’ll be the first to go on record here: 1. Trump will not run in ‘24."

Roach also threw out some hot-takes a solid portion of Republicans would take issue with, not only predicting that DeSantis will run in 2024, but that he would also beat President Trump in a primary race.

"2. DeSantis runs for President regardless. 3. DeSantis would win in a presidential primary against Trump."  Tweeted Roach.

The possible candidacy of Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) for President raises serious questions about the future of the Republican party.  While many moderates feel more comfortable with the Florida Governor running in 2024, polls indicate another reality.

A recent poll reported by the Floridian found that 73% of Republicans want to see Trump run once again for President in the next Presidential election.  Not to mention the constant teasing Trump gives his supporters for announcing his candidacy in 2024.

The rising stock of Ron DeSantis along with the ever stagnant popularity of Donald Trump plays very well into the Democrat's hands in the near future.  A Lincoln Project representative publicly stated recently that the group would be using the Trump-DeSantis bond against the GOP.
