FL Surgeon General Accuses Biden of 'Actively Preventing' Antibody Treatment

Florida's Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo is now accusing the Biden Administration of, "actively preventing," antibody treatment to battle COVID-19.

This year Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) appointed Ladapo to take charge as the new Surgeon General of Florida.  Since then, Ladapo's unorthodox approach to the pandemic has earned him titles in the media such as ,"anti-Fauci," by the New York Post.

However, a battle that has gone on longer than Ladapo's fight against the federal government, is COVID-19 treatment in the state of Florida.  The DeSantis administration took an early liking to treatments such as Regeneron and Monoclonal, which many Democrats opposed early on.

Now, Monoclonal treatments have gained the backing of top tier Florida Democrats, such as State Rep. Carlos G. Smith (D-49) and Commissioner of Agriculture Nikki Fried (D-FL).  However, it seems that the federal government has not let go of its fight to push vaccines and mandates over other solutions.

Fox News reported this week that, "The Biden administration recently paused shipments of COVID-19 antibody treatments manufactured by major drug companies Regeneron and Eli Lilly amid claims that such treatments are not effective against the omicron variant of the coronavirus."

Although the federal government may be citing effectiveness concerns as the reason for pausing these shipments, Ladapo believes this simply comes down to politics, writing that the federal government is, "actively preventing," shipments of the treatment.

In a letter, Surgeon General Ladapo writes, "The sudden suspension of multiple monoclonal antibody therapy treatments from distribution to Florida removes a healthcare provider's ability to decide the best treatment options for their patients in the state."

In his summary, Ladapo comments on President Biden's (D) infamous remarks that the COVID-19 solution is now on the state level, and by this Ladapo, "respectfully request[s] that you allow states and healthcare practitioners to provide treatment options that best benefit the communities they know and serve."
