Sen. Simpson Insists Anti-Mandate Bill Is What DeSantis Wants

With the special session currently underway, it seems as if some Republicans are fighting harder against it than most Democrats, calling it a watered-down bill.  Now, Senator Wilton Simpson (R) is pushing back against this rhetoric, insisting the bill is what Governor DeSantis (R-FL) collaborated for.

Sen. Simpson today stated that this bill is important to "all three chambers, whether it is the House, Senate or Governor's office," implying the heavy involvement and collaboration that Governor DeSantis has had with this bill so far.

"This what the collaboration was like, and the governor’s office collaborated well with the legislature on pulling these bills together. So, This is not us doing something different from that the governor salt, we have to go through a bill-drafting process, we have to go through a committee process, and we’ll see what the final product looks like on Wednesday," state Senator Simpson.

This bill has not only been scrutinized by the more conservative members of the Florida Congress, but not surprisingly Democrats as well.  But, Democrats seem very optimistic, even with the bill's passing as more than likely to happen.

The Floridian spoke today with State Rep. Dan Daley (D-96) who essentially predicts that the bill will be watered down.  As the bill goes through committee and is debated, expect Democrats to not go down without a fight on this issue.
