Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) has expressed his support for President Donald Trump (R). So much so that the idea of them squaring off against each other in the 2024 presidential election has been the topic of discussion. However, Gov. DeSantis has remained largely quiet on the subject. Instead, he’s focused on his gubernatorial reelection bid.
While both Trump and DeSantis are soaring in all of the latest public opinion polls, there’s one political figure on Team Trump that is now expressing his disappointment in the DeSantis. This week, Roger Stone, the controversial political ally to the President, directed verbal jabs to DeSantis.
Stone has called for Governor DeSantis to audit the 2020 presidential election, and he’s also called for DeSantis to make a promise that he will not run for president in 2024.
Late Monday, Stone also sent an email to supporters, expressing that “let’s just say that in the event that he does not elect to run, let’s just say that Governor Ron DeSantis would not be the candidate I support.” Moreover, Stone also shared that “Republicans, conservatives and Trump supporters across the nation who are impressed with our governor with his high flying rhetoric, must focus carefully on his public policy decisions.”
Stone has even threatened to make a gubernatorial run as a Libertarian candidate if DeSantis doesn’t meet the demands, but DeSantis has downplayed the threat, telling a reporter that Stone cannot run for office because he is “a convicted felon.”
In response, Stone argued that he was pardoned, so “the governor is incorrect. I’d say he owes me an apology.”
As voters continue to look forward to 2024, other political figures await what will transpire with President Trump.
