Rick Scott Keeps Fighting for a Florida Olympics

Share

For years now, many Florida officials have insisted that China not be allowed to host the upcoming Olympic Games and better yet, move it to Florida.  Now, US Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) is continuing pushback on Bejing hosting the Olympic games alongside athletes who harbor human rights concerns.

After an Op-ed by the Wall Street Journal was published, shedding light on tennis player Peng Shuai, who called out Chinese Communist Party officials for injustices.

Senator Scott responded.

Scott claims that he has worked for "two years," to convince the IOC and the world, "to move the 2022 Olympics out of Communist China & to a nation that respects human rights. The safety of U.S. athletes & all in the Games is at stake."  The Senator then followed with a hashtag, referencing the WSJ opinion piece, "#WhereIsPengShuai":

The opinion piece was written oddly enough by a National Basketball Association player, Enes Kanter.  Kanter has been a lone wolf in his field fighting back against the CCP, as the league has fallen into controversy for coming to the Communist nation's defense.

Aside from basketball, Kanter spends his time calling Chinese President Xi Jinping, "a control freak," and getting on fellow basketball player, LeBron James, who previously stated, "He’s definitely not someone I will give my energy," when asked about Kanter.

Senator Scott is not the only person in Florida advocating for the move.  Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) and CFO Jimmy Patronis (R-FL) have played an active role in the process, showing valiant efforts to the bring the games here to the Sunshine state.
