Lauren Book Says Special Session 'Threatens Freedom'

Share

Although Republicans claim that they are fighting against vaccine mandates in the name of freedom, not everybody agrees with the messaging. Senator Lauren Book (D-32) feels that Gov. DeSantis' special session threatens freedom.

In response to federal vaccine mandates, Florida has been leading the way for Republicans nationally against the Biden administration.  With several lawsuits in progress from private companies and state governments, the Biden Administration is being overwhelmed with pushback.

Republican messaging has often been filled with talks of "freedom," however it could be just the opposite in Florida.

According to Senate Minority Leader Book, who feels that the Republican solution to vaccine mandates will "strip business owners and local governments of the freedom to decide what's best for their workers and their communities," adding that, "This proposed legislation not only inhibits that very freedom but also dangerously threatens the safety of workers and communities by handicapping hospitals and healthcare facilities who are reliant on federal funding to keep our communities safe as well as stripping protections from workers with the abandonment of OSHA."

Book's rhetoric stands very much against what the state has been hearing from other legislators, such as Rep. Anthony Sabatini (R-32) who has also bashed the same legislation, but for different reasons.

Sabatini has claimed that this bill is a "FAKE bill."  And that it does not do enough.  The Congressman who has a history of calling out his own party as what he calls, “RINOs,” is now saying the latest bill on vaccine mandates in Florida, “does NOT include a BAN on private sector employee vaccine mandates! Call EVERY Legislator & demand a FULL BAN on all private sector employee mandates!”
